Description of key information

Half life period of 5-nitrovanillin in soil was observed to be 75 days (1800 hrs ). Based  on these half life values  it is concluded that  5-nitrovanillin  is  readily biodegradable (not persistent) in soil since the half life  period of  5-nitrovanillin exceeds  does not exceeds the threshold criteria (to qualify the chemical as persistent)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in soil:
75 d
