First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General advice: Symptoms of poisoning may appear several hours later.

If inhaled: If breathed in, move person into fresh air. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

In case of skin contact: Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off with plenty of water. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

In case of eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses. Consult a physician.

If swallowed: If swallowed, rinse mouth with water (only if the person is conscious). Call a physician immediately. Do not induce vomiting unless instructed to do so by medical personnel. If vomiting occurs the head should be kept low so that vomit does not enter the lungs.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed: Causes eye burns.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Treatment: Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Dry powder, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Water spray jet, Alcohol-resistant foam, Aqueous film forming foam (AFFF), Sand, Foam

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water spray jet

Specific hazards during fire-fighting:
Exposure to decomposition products may be a hazard to health.
Heating can release hazardous gases.
Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Hazardous combustion products: Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Carbon oxides

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Firefighters must wear fire resistant personal protective equipment.
In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
In the event of fire, cool tanks with water spray.
Avoid dust formation.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:
Evacuate personnel to safe areas.
Avoid dust formation.
Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.

Environmental precautions:
Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.
Should not be released into the environment.

Methods for cleaning up:
Keep in properly labelled containers.
Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.
Treat recovered material as described in the section "Disposal considerations".
Sweep up and shovel into suitable containers for disposal.
Pick up and arrange disposal without creating dust.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Advice on safe handling:
Ensure all equipment is electrically grounded before beginning transfer operations.
To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat.
Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.
Avoid formation of dust and aerosols.
Use personal protective equipment as required.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:
During processing, dust may form explosive mixture in air. Take measures to prevent the build up of electrostatic charge. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.

Hygiene measures: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Requirements for storage areas and containers:
To maintain product quality, do not store in heat or direct sunlight. Store in original container. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep locked up. Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs

Specific use(s): Consult the technical guidelines for the use of this substance/mixture.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters: Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.

Engineering measures
Engineering controls should be used as the primary means to control possible exposures. Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep exposure lev-els below recommended exposure limits.

Personal protective equipment
Eye protection: Face-shield
Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.

Hand protection
Material: Nitrile rubber
Remarks: Impervious gloves Take note of the information given by the producer concerning permeability and break through times, and of special workplace conditions (mechanical strain, dura-tion of contact).

Skin and body protection: closed work clothing. Long sleeved clothing

Respiratory protection:
Engineering controls should always be the primary method of controlling exposures.
If respiratory protective equipment is needed for certain activities, the type as well as the corresponding protection factor will depend upon the risk assessment and air concentrations, hazards, physical and warning properties of substances present.
Use only respiratory protection that conforms to international/ national standards.
No personal respiratory protective equipment normally required.

Protective measures: The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: None reasonably foreseeable.
Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions.
Possibility of hazardous reactions: No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.
Conditions to avoid: To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat. Heat, flames and sparks
Incompatible materials: No data available
Hazardous decomposition products: No decomposition if used as directed

Disposal considerations

Waste Treatment Method
Product: In accordance with local and national regulations. Must be incinerated in a suitable incineration plant holding a permit delivered by the competent authorities.
