Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Experiment start date - 09 June 2006; Experiment completion date - 21 June 2006; Study completion date - 21 September 2006.
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling point/boiling range)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Identity: FAT 40827/A
Batch: T2 5572 BOP 01/06
Purity: determined in this study
Appearance: black sticky powder
Expiration date: 28.02.2011
Storage: at room temperature
Atm. press.:
1 atm
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
>= 250 °C
Remarks on result:
other: No boiling point can be determined under test condition.

An exothermic reaction starting at about 250 °C, which might be due to decomposition of the test item. After the test, test substance was a black coloured powder and lost about 23 % of the mass.

Conclusions:
No boiling point can be determined under test conditions.
Executive summary:

The determination of the boiling point of the test item was performed according to the EEC Directive 92/69, A.2 and to the OECD Guideline No. 103: "Melting point / melting range". The boiling point was determined using thermal analysis. Decomposition was observed around 250 °C. Under the test conditions, neither melting nor boiling could be observed for FAT 40827/A.

Description of key information

The determination of the boiling point of the test item was performed according to the EEC Directive 92/69, A.2 and to the OECD Guideline No. 103: "Melting point / melting range". The boiling point was determined according to thermal analysis. Decomposition was observed around 250 °C. Under the test conditions, neither melting nor boiling could be observed for FAT 40827/A.
