Description of key information

The substance is stable, not an organic peroxide, not self-heating, not self-reactive (Method UN N.4), and not corrosive to metals (UN Test C.1).

Additional information

To assess the corrosiveness of the substance to metal a research in specialized literature (DECHEMA) was implemented. For the substance itself no data were found in the literature.

Due to the chemical similarity butyl urethane was used as analogue to assess the corrosiveness of the substance to metal, and additionally the corrosive centres of propene acid, aniline and ethyl mercaptan were considered.

The chemical analogue butyl urethane is not corrosive to aluminium and unalloyed steel. Also the corrosive centres of propene acid, aniline and ethyl mercaptan were not corrosive to metal. In conclusion the substance is considered as non-corrosive to metal.

Justification for classification or non-classification

- The substance is stable.

- The substance is solid with a low melting point of 53.5 °C and is therefore considered as a substance without self-heating properties.

- The substance shows no chemical groups associated with self-reactive properties according to the UN recommendations on the transport of dangerous goods which is cited in the GHS chapter 2.8 the substance is not self-reactive.

- The substance shows no chemical groups associated with organic peroxide according to the UN recommendations on the transport of dangerous goods which is cited in the GHS chapter 2.15 the substance is not an organic peroxide.
