The purpose of the study was to evaluate the potency of ammonium nitrate (> 99%) as a sensory irritant. Groups of five male mice were exposed nose only for a single 10 minute period to aerosols of NITRAM at target particulate concentrations of 10 mg/m3or 100 mg/m3.
