Description of key information
The flash point of l'Adiponitrile was evaluated using a PENSKY-MARTENS flash point tester (ATPEM) built in accordance with ASTM D93, NF EN 22719, ISO 2719 and DIN 51758 standards. Validation was performed for this test procedure using benzyl alcohal "for analysis" as the last validation test. Results were acceptatble according to the validation procedure of the system. Using method A (liquid not viscous) it was determined that the flash point of l'Adiponitrile is 163°C.

The BASF measured flashpoint (164C) and the Rhodia measured flashpoint (163C) are consistent data values. The literature referenced value (93C) is unverifiable and not consistent with measured flashpoints of similar nitrile materials.
