Additional information

The substance 1,2-Hexandiol is readily biodegradable. Thus, no further degradation tests (biotic or abiotic) are necessary. The substance is considered rapidly degradable in the environment. No persistence of the substance in the environment is expected.

The substance has a low volatility under environmental conditions (estimated Henry’s law constant: 0.0411 Pa· m3/mol). No information about the adsorption/desorption to soil is available, but as the substance has a low logKow (0.58 at 25°C) it is expected that the substance is mobile in soil.

Due to the low log Kow, bioaccumulation in aquatic or terrestrial species is not expected.
