First-aid measures
- Description of first aid measures
First-aid measures general : Call a poison center or a doctor if you feel unwell. If possible show him this sheet. Failing this, show him the packaging or label.
First-aid measures after inhalation : If breathing stops, give artificial respiration. Move the affected person away from the contaminated area and into the fresh air. Get medical advice/attention.
First-aid measures after skin contact : Get medical advice/attention. Gently wash with plenty of soap and water.
First-aid measures after eye contact : Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Get medical advice/attention.
First-aid measures after ingestion : Rinse mouth. Call a poison center or a doctor if you feel unwell.
- Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Symptoms/effects after inhalation : May cause respiratory irritation.
Symptoms/effects after skin contact : Irritation.
Symptoms/effects after eye contact : Serious damage to eyes.
- Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Treat symptomatically.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media : carbon dioxide (CO2), powder, alcohol-resistant foam, water spray.
Hazardous decomposition products in case of fire : Toxic fumes may be released. Carbon oxides. Nitrogen oxides. Hydrogen chloride gas.
Protection during firefighting : Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective equipment. Self-contained breathing apparatus. Complete protective clothing.
Accidental release measures
- Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
General measures : Avoid generating dusty conditions. Wear personal protective equipment. Avoid inhaling vapors, fogs of pulverizing or gases.
* For non-emergency personnel :
Emergency procedures : Avoid inhalation. Provide adequate ventilation. Evacuate personnel to a safe area.
* For emergency responders
Protective equipment : Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective equipment. For further information refer to section 8: "Exposure controls/personal protection".
- Environmental precautions : Avoid release to the environment.
- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
For containment : Keep in suitable and closed containers for disposal.
Methods for cleaning up : Sweep up or shovel. Avoid raising dust.
Other information : Dispose of materials or solid residues at an authorized site.
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling : Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Avoid formation of dust and aerosols. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear personal protective equipment.
Storage conditions : Store in a dry place. Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed. Keep cool. Keep under inert gas. Hygroscopic.
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management system is available at each site. Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every Downstream user of the intermediate.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Appropriate engineering controls: Ensure good ventilation of the work station. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.
Materials for protective clothing: Combination of protection against chemicals. The type of equipment of protection must be selected according to the concentration and to the quantity of the dangerous substance at work.
Hand protection: Choosing the proper glove is a decision that depends not only on the type of material, but also on other quality features, which differ for each manufacturer
Eye protection: Facial protection and safety goggles. Use an equipment of protection of eyes, tested and approved according to the current governmental standards, such as NIOSH (US) or IN 166 (EU).
Skin and body protection: Wear suitable protective clothing
Respiratory protection: For nuisance exposures use type P95 (US) or type P1 (EU EN 143) particle respirator. For higher level protection use type OV/AG/P99 (US) or type ABEK-P2 (EU EN 143) respirator cartridges. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).
Environmental exposure controls: Avoid release to the environment.
Stability and reactivity
Reactivity : The product is non-reactive under normal conditions of use, storage and transport.
Chemical stability : Stable under normal conditions.
Possibility of hazardous reactions : No dangerous reactions known under normal conditions of use.
Conditions to avoid : Moisture.
Incompatible materials : Acids. Acid anhydrides. Acid chlorides. Strong oxidizing agents.
Hazardous decomposition products : Under normal conditions of storage and use, hazardous decomposition products should not be produced.
Disposal considerations
Waste treatment methods : Burn in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber but exert extra care in igniting as this material is highly flammable. Offer surplus and non-recyclable solutions to a licensed disposal company. Contact waste disposal services. Product/Packaging disposal recommendations : Dispose of contaminated packaging as unused product.
