Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The ready biodegradability of Cyclabute was determined according to OECD guideline 301F (manometric respirometry test). Cyclabute undergoes 22% biodegradation after 28 days (23% biodegradation after 60 days, 23% biodegradation after 61 days) in the test conditions. The curve obtained with the reference substance alone and with Cyclabute + reference substance shows no toxic effect of Cyclabute to the micro-organisms at the test concentration (100 mg/L). Cyclabute should be regarded as not readily biodegradable under the conditions of this test.

After 60 days two metabolites were identified by LC-MS: the key metabolite was Cycla-alcohol (Cas no 3385-61-3) and the minor constituent Cycla-ketone. The log Kow of the Cycla-alcohol was determined to be 2.4 using HPLC.
