Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

General Information:
Remove contaminated clothes at once. In case of accident or if you feel unwell seek medical advice immediately (show the label if possible). Observe self-protection for first aid. Take persons to a safe place. Keep warm, in restful position, cover up.
After inhalation
Move to fresh air, keep the victim laying down and restful. If breathing has stopped, give artificial respiration. Seek medical advice and clearly identify substance.
After contact with the skin
Wash immediately with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothes at once. In serious cases, use emergency shower immediately. Seek medical advice and clearly identify substance.
After contact with the eyes
Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 10-15 minutes and seek medical advice. Keep eyelids well open to rinse the whole eye surface and eyelids with water. Continue to bathe eyes during transport to medical practitioner.
After swallowing
Rinse mouth with water. If conscious, give several small portions of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice immediately and produce the label or packaging.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media
alcohol-resistant foam. For small amounts: carbon dioxide
Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons
water.
Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, combustion products, resulting gases
Hazardous combustion products: hydrogen chloride, silicon dioxide.
Special protective equipment for fire fighting
Use respiratory protection independent of recirculated air.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions
Wear personal protection equipment. Task force: Use tightly fitting chemical protection suit. Keep unprotected persons away. Take persons to a safe place. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid inhaling mists and vapours. Observe wind direction.
Environmental precautions
Contain any fluid that runs out using suitable material (e.g. earth). Prevent material from entering sewers or surface waters. Observe local/state/federal regulations.
Methods for cleaning up
Absorb with liquid, mainly acid binding material and dispose of according to local/state/federal regulation. Cover larger quantities by near waterless foam and take up in container. Do not flush away with water.
Further information:
Eliminate all sources of ignition.

Handling and storage

General information:
Avoid exposure by technical measures or personal protective equipment.
Handling:
Precautions for safe handling:
Ensure adequate ventilation. Must be syphoned off in situ. Keep away from incompatible substances in accordance with section 10.2 of SDS.
Precautions against fire and explosion:
Keep away from sources of ignition and do not smoke. Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging. Flammable vapors may accumulate and form explosive mixtures with air in containers, process vessels, including partial, empty and uncleaned containers and vessels, or other enclosed spaces. Vapours heavier than air, therefore inflammable gas mixture may form mainly near floor. Cool endangered containers with water.
Storage:
Conditions for storage rooms and vessels:
Do not store in containers made of aluminum or other light metals. Do not store in containers coated with zinc.
Advice for storage of incompatible materials:
Keep away from water. Keep away from alkalis.
Further information for storage:
Keep in the original container in a cool well ventilated place. Keep container dry and tightly closed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure limited and controlled
Exposure in the work place limited and controlled
General protection and hygiene measures:
Remove contaminated, soaked clothing immediately. Do not breathe vapours. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling. Wash hands at the end of work and before eating. Provide emergency shower and eye-bath.
Personal protection equipment
Respiratory protection
gas mask filter ABEK. In case of long or strong exposure: positive pressure self contained breathing apparatus.
Hand protection
PVC gloves . At any sign of decay or chemical permeability remove gloves immediately and replace. Wear gloves for short periods only < 10 mins.
Eye protection
tight fitting protective goggles . Where there is risk of splashing: protective shield . Provide work station with eye bathing equipment. Do not wear contact lenses.
Skin protection
full protective suit .
Exposure to the environment limited and controlled
Prevent material from entering surface waters, drains or sewers and soil.
Further information for system design and engineering measures
Observe regulations for protection against explosion.

Stability and reactivity

General information:
Violent reactions are possible with various chemicals.
Conditions to avoid
none known.
Materials to avoid
proton-active substances. Basic substances (e.g. alkalis, ammonia, amines). Reacts violently with: water, alcohols, ketones/aldehydes. Reaction causes the formation of: hydrogen chloride and heat.
Hazardous decomposition products
Under the effect of humidity, water and protic agents: hydrogen chloride.

Disposal considerations

Material:
Recommendation:
Dispose of according to regulations by incineration in a special waste incinerator. Observe local/state/federal regulations. Ensure special chem./phys. treatment after discussion with the supplier.
Uncleaned packaging:
Recommendation:
Completely discharge containers (no tear drops, no powder rest, scraped carefully). Containers may be recycled or re-used. Observe local/state/federal regulations. Uncleaned packaging should be treated with the same precautions as the material.
