Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The 72-h EbC50 of trimethylolpropane to Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was

determined to be greater than 1000 mg/L (based on nominal concentrations).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Key study

The toxicity of trimethylopropane on the green algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (reported as Selenastrum carpicornutum) was tested according to an OECD guideline. The 72-h EbC50 was determined to be greater than 1000 mg/L (based on nominal concentrations). Being performed by EA Japan according to a OECD-Guideline, the study is considered to be acceptable.

Supporting study

The toxicity of trimethylolpropane to Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata

was determined within a test duration of 14 d. Cells were counted on day 3, 6, 10 and 12. A NOEC of 1,000 mg/L may be derived from the graph provided in the publication. The authors reported EC >1000 mg/L, which are interpreted in that way, that all effects were above 1000 mg/L.

As only a short abstract is available, the reliablity cannot be assessed.
