- Justification:
The substance is not readily biodegradable but by analogy with 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-ylmethanol, the substance 2-isobutyl-2-methyl-1,3-dioxolane-4-methanol can be considered as inherently biodegradable and thus does not meet the P and vP criteria.
Moreover, a log Kow of 1.57 was determined for the 2-isobutyl-2-methyl-1,3-dioxolane-4-methanol which is lower than the screening criteria. Thus the substance does not meet the B and vB criteria.
Finally, the substance 2-isobutyl-2-methyl-1,3-dioxolane-4-methanol does not meet T criteria for the environmental compartment, there is no evidence that the substance exhibits chronic toxicity and the substance carcinogenic (category 1A or 1B), germ cell mutagenic (category 1A or 1B), or toxic for reproduction (category 1A, 1B or 2) according to Regulation EC No 1272/2008. Thus, the substance does not meet T criteria.
