Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Changes in the respiration of domestic activated sludge were tested in a study following OECD guideline 209 (Safepharm Laboratories Ltd 2002f). Due to the rapid hydrolysis of the substance two experiments were conducted. The sludge was exposed to the parent substance that was directly added to the test medium. In a second experiment an aqueous solution of the parent substance and the hydrolysis product were inoculated with activated sludge. Both tests run for 3 hours. For both tests an EC50 > 1000 mg/l was determined.
