A 96 h LC50 value of 4-10 mg/l has been reported for the effects of Alcohols, C12 -13 towards the mortality of the freshwater fish Salmo gairdneri (new name: Oncorhynchus mykiss). Although effects were observed it is likely that physical fouling contributed to the observed effects, since the water solubiltiy of the test substances has been estimated to be 1.1 mg/L at a loading rate of 1000 mg/L. Therefore the LC50 value was above the LoS, and so the test substance is non-toxic at the LoS.

A 96 h LC50 value of 10 mg/l has been reported for the effects of Alcohols, C12 -13 towards the mortality of the marine fish juvenile turbot (Scophthalmus maximus). Although effects were observed it is likely that physical fouling contributed to the observed effects, since the water solubiltiy of the test substances has been estimated to be 1.1 mg/L at a loading rate of 1000 mg/L. Therefore the LC50 value was above the LoS, and so the test substance is non-toxic at the LoS.

Other studies show the L(C)L50 values to lie in the range >2.4 to 15 mg/l.

The presence of branched structures does not appear confer the substance any different ecotoxicological properties compared to the Alcohols, C12 -13 linears only substance. Therefore the data is freely read-across between these two substances.
