Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Melting point: No melting point up to 350 °C, decomposition at 350 °C, hot stages - capillary method, OECD 102, EU Method A.1, Calmels 1995.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The melting point of the test material was determined in a key study Calmels (1995). The study performed under GLP conditions and in line with the standardised guidelines OECD 102 and EU Method A.1. Based on the principles for assessing data quality defined by Klimisch et al (1997), this study was assigned a reliability score of 1.

First the hot stages method was performed using a Kofler hot bar. Since a melting point was not observed up to 260 °C, the capillary method with a metal block (Electrothermal 8130) was used. All assays were performed in triplicate. Decomposition of the test material was observed in all three assays as follows; at approximately 200°C in assay 1 the test material became dark orange, at approximately 330°C in assay 2 the test material blackened, and at approximately 350°C in assay 3 the test material became blackish (decomposition of the test material).

Therefore under the conditions of the test no melting point was observed up to 350 °C, decomposition however was observed.
