Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No auto ignition temperature between room temperature and 420 °C, EU Method A.16, Calmels 1996.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The auto flammability of the test material was determined in a study performed by Calmels (1996). The study was performed under GLP conditions and in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.16 and AFNOR NF T 20-036.

Based on the principles for assessing data quality defined by Klimisch et al (1997), this study was assigned a reliability score of 1.

A cube (8 cm³) was filled with the test material and then suspended in an oven at room temperature. The temperature of the oven was increased to 420 °C at an approximate rate of 0.5 °C/minute, and samples were observed for self-ignition for approximately 800 minutes. Two replicate tests were run in sequence, the second to confirm the results of the first.

Under the conditions of the test, no relative auto-ignition temperature was recorded between room temperature and 420 °C.
