The gauging factor (C) was determined to be 1.01. Four consecutive measurements were performed on the 1.0 g/L solution of PTH-Decahydroamide and the gauging factor applied to get the corrected surface tension. A constant value of 51.9 mN/m at 20 °C was determined for the corrected surface tension.

Based on the criteria as outlined in the EC guideline A.5, it is concluded that PTH-decahydroamide (Ro 319373/000) should be regarded as a surface active material.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The surface tension of a 1 g/L solution of PTH-decahydroamide (Ro 31 -9373/000) was determined to be 51.9 mN/m. Based on the criteria as outlined in the EC guideline A.5, it was concluded that PTH-decahydroamide (Ro 319373/000) should be regarded as a surface active material.
Executive summary:

The determination of the surface tension of an aqueous solution of PTH-decahydroamide (Ro 31 -9373/000) was performed using EC directive 92/69/EEC, A.5 (1992).

The surface tension of a 1 g/L solution of PTH-decahydroamide (Ro 31 -9373/000) was determined to be 51.9 mN/m. Based on the criteria as outlined in the EC guideline A.5, it was concluded that PTH-decahydroamid (Ro 319373/000) should be regarded as a surface active material.

This conclusion is in agreement with the foaming phenomenon observed when PTH-decahydroamide (Ro 31 -9373/000) is strongly agitated in aquoeus solutions.
