The main constituents of reaction mass of DIPE and 2 -methylpent-2 -ene do not contain functional groups that are easily hydrolized. Consequently, they are considered as resistant to hydrolysis and hydrolysis will not contribute to the degradation of the test item in the environment.

DIPE and 2 -methylpent-2 -ene are expected to rapidly degrade in the atmosphere by hydroxyl radical attack based on QSAR estimations of atmospheric half-lives. Similarly, rapid degradation of the impurities in the atmosphere is predicted by QSAR estimations (see Chapter 8 of the CSR).
