PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

2-Bromo-3,3,3-trifluoropropene is not considered a PBT or vPvB substance on the basis that it does not meet the criteria for persistence or bioaccumulation.

Test results indicated that the substance is unlikely to degrade rapidly in the water compartment by either biotic or abiotic routes, however the substance is highly volatile and would be expected to rapidly partition to the atmospheric compartment; once in the atmosphere the substance will degrade rapidly. On this basis it is considered that the substance cannot be considered persistent. On the basis that the substance has a low octanol-water partition coefficient (logPow < 4.5) it is considered that it will have a low tendency to bioaccumulate.

The substance can be considered to meet the toxicity criteria based on Reproductive toxicity Cat. 2 self-classification.
