Mineral Paraffin Oilis a UVCB substance with a variable complex structure. The available data for acute toxicity ofMineral Paraffin Oiland its components report low acute toxicity in allspecies tested.
In accordance with the CLP Regulation criteria, a substance is classified as to its acute oral toxicity if LD50≤2 000 mg/kg bw. The published data on acute oral toxicity of Mineral Paraffin Oil, as well as QSAR estimated values for Mineral Paraffin Oil components report values of >5000 mg/kg bw suggesting low acute toxicity of this substance via oral exposure route.
Mineral oil-based products did not cause any mortality or clinical signs of toxicity when tested in rats via inhalation exposure at aerosol concentrations up to 210 mg/m3. From the data on toxicokinetics, long carbon chain aliphatic hydrocarbons of petroleum origin have only limited absorption, including inhalation exposure. Therefore, it is considered that Mineral Paraffin Oil is of low acute toxicity by inhalation exposure route.

However, aspiration hazard is an important endpoint for acute exposure to Mineral Paraffin Oil.
