Key result
Melting / freezing pt.:
< -20 °C
Atm. press.:
ca. 1 atm
Decomposition:
no
Sublimation:
no

After twelve hours of storage in a freezer at - 20°C the test item was still liquid.

According to Annex VII of REACH, the study does not need to be conducted below a lower limit of - 20°C. Therefore no main study was performed and the determination was terminated.

Conclusions:
No freezing point or range could be detected.
The freezing point of nopol was stated as < - 20°C.
Executive summary:

The determination of the melting point was performed in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, method A.1 “Melting/Freezing Temperature” (May 2008) and OECD Guideline No 102 “Melting Point/Melting Range” (July 1995).

In a preliminary study, the test item was still not frozen after twelve hours of storage in a freezer at - 20°C; according to Annex VII of REACH, no main study was performed. The freezing point or range of nopol was stated as < - 20°C.

No observations were made which might cause doubts on the validity of the study outcome. Therefore, the result of the study is considered valid.

Description of key information

In a preliminary study, the test item was still not frozen after twelve hours of storage in a freezer at - 20°C.

Therefore, according to Annex VII of REACH (column 2 of section 7.2), no main study was performed.
The freezing point or range of nopol is < - 20°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Key study conducted according to OECD 102 Guideline and EU Method A.1. The result is scientifically acceptable but not obtained under GLP.

Therefore a reliability of 2 (reliable with restrictions) is assigned.
