Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

With high probability not harmful to aquatic algae.
No toxic effects occur at the range of the substances solubility.
EC50 (96h) > 1000 mg/L and NOEC (96h) >= 100 mg/L (nominal, WSF) for growth rate of Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata (OECD 201)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a GLP guideline study following OECD 201 green algae (Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata) were exposed for 96 hours to

Hexamethylene diisocyanate, oligomers, reaction products withN-(3-trimethoxysilyl)propylbutylamine and Bis-(Trimethoxysilylpropyl)amine [BASF Coatings GmbH, 2013]. Based on the low water solubility of the test item the aquatic toxicity was determined by a water soluble fraction (WSF) with a limit loading rate of 1000 mg/L for the EC-value testing and with 100 mg/L for the NOEC-value testing. No algal growth inhibition was observed in the treatment compared to the control. Thus, the 96-h EC50 for growth rate inhibition is determined to be > 1000 mg/L and the NOEC for growth rate is >= 100 mg/L based on nominal loading concentrations.
