Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Biodegradation in water and sediment: simulation tests

Currently viewing:

Administrative data

Endpoint:
biodegradation in water: sediment simulation testing
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because direct and indirect exposure of sediment is unlikely
other:
Justification for type of information:
In accordance with Annex IX, column 2 of the REACH Regulation, Simulation testing for surface water need not be conducted if the substance is highly insoluble in surface water. A water solubility measurement (Huntingdon Life Sciences, 2011, Study number FGE0002) determined the water solubility of Fe3P to be less than 1 mg/L at 20°C; on this basis therefore, surface water simulation testing is considered unnecessary.

In accordance with Annex IX, column 2 of the REACH Regulation, Simulation testing for sediment does not need to be conducted if direct and indirect exposure of sediment is unlikely. In industrial use, Fe3P is not released to aqueous waste streams, and all residual material is collected for disposal by incineration, and therefore Fe3P is not anticipated to be exposed either directly or indirectly to sediment.
