Description of key information

Several freshwater aquatic studies are available.

A short-term fish study, valid with restrictions was performed under Chinese GLP. No effects were found in the limit test performed at 150 mg/L test substance. LC50 is therefore greater than 150 mg/L.

A short-term limit study with Daphnia magna is available also valid with restrictions and performed under Chinese GLP. No effects were found at 150 mg/L and the EC50 is greater than 150 mg/L.

An algae growth inhibition study is available for m/p-Diol, a complex reaction product. No growth inhibition was observed up to the highest test concentration of 100 mg/L. Therefore, 72h-ErC50 >100 mg/L and the NOErC is greater than or equal to 100 mg/L. This result is also used for the single component, m-Diol.

Two long-term studies are available as well. A long-term fish study, valid with restrictions, performed under Chinese GLP gave a NOEC≥ 150 mg/L as no effects on growth rate or mortality were found up to the highest test concentration. A long-term study with Daphnia magna, valid with restrictions, performed under Chinese GLP gave no effects up to the highest test concentration of 1.6 mg/L; NOEC≥ 1.6 mg/L.

An activated sludge respiration inhibition study performed under Chinese GLP, valid with restrictions, gave an EC50 greater than 1000 mg/L.
