Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No significant effect on algae has been observed at the highest concentration tested (350 mg/L corresponding to 320 mg a.i./L).

Additional information

In a study performed according to the EPA Ecological Effects Test Guidelines, OPPTS 850.5400, 1996, the OECD guideline No. 201, 2006 and the ISO International Standard 8692, 2004 with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (Migchielsen, 2011), N-(3 -aminopropyl)iminodiethanol (APDEA) reduced growth rate and inhibited the yield of this fresh water algae species slightly at all concentrations tested during a 96-hour test period. The growth rate, being the most important endpoint, was reduced by 4.6% at the highest test concentration of 350 mg/L (or 320 mg a.i./L). This value proved statistically significant but was not considered to be a biologically relevant reduction as it was far below 10%. As a consequence, the NOEC for growth rate reduction was 350 mg/L (corresponding to 320 mg a.i./L). The EC50 for both growth rate reduction (ErC50: 0-96h) and yield inhibition (EyC50: 0-96h) exceeded the highest test concentration of 350 mg/L.
