Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One study investigating the short-term toxicity of Fatty acids, C18 unsaturated, trimers, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS No. 173832-46-7) to aquatic invertebrates is available. The GLP study was performed under static conditions according to OECD guideline 202 using Daphnia magna as test organism (Harding, 1997). The substance was tested in concentrations of 1, 10 and 100 mg/L (nominal). After 48 hours, 35% immobilization was reported at concentrations of 10 and 100 mg/L, whereas 10% immobilization was observed at the lowest concentration of 1 mg/L. The observed effects occurred above the water solubility of the substance and therefore, they are expected to be physical (caused by direct interference with undissolved test substance) rather than due to intrinsic toxicity. Indeed, high turbidity of test medium was observed at the highest concentration of 100 mg/L, indicating the possibility of physical effects. The EC50 (48 h) was determined to be > 100 mg/L on the basis of the nominal concentration.
