During the determination of the log Pow of a similar test item (Silastol G 19 N) with HPLC, different methods using different mobile phases and detectors were tested in order to find a suitable detection method for the test item Silastol G 19 N. The test item solution gave no additional signals, compared with the blank value, using RI- and UV-detection and LCMS. The determination of the log Pow of Silastol G 19 N was not possible with justifiable expenditure. Therefore, the determination of the log Pow of Silastol H 200-TS is not expected to be determinable with justifiable expenditure, too.

According to REACH regulation Annex VII, if the test cannot be performed (e.g. the substance decomposes, has a high surface activity, reacts violently during the performance of the test or does not dissolve in water or in octanol, or it is not possible to obtain a sufficiently pure substance), a calculated value for log P as well as details of the calculation method shall be provided.
