Justification for type of information:
Long-term toxicity testing shall be proposed by the registrant if the chemical safety assessment according to Annex I indicates the need to investigate further the effects on aquatic organisms. The choice of the appropriate test(s) depends on the results of the chemical safety assessment (see specific rules for adaptation from testing in 9.1 of column 2 in annex IX of the regulaton (EC) 1907/2006).
Based on the chemical safety assessment according to annex I REACH there is NO need for Longterm toxicity testing on fish. This is concluded based on the following key aspects as result of the chemical safety assessment: L-Cysteine hydrochloride as well as the monohydrate form
- the substance is not classified as hazardous to aquatic organisms according to regulation (EC)
1272/2008 (Reasons: readily biodegradable, the lowest ErC10=22 mg/L (Algae))
Therefore, no Long-term toxicity to fish needs to be proposed. This is in accordance with the specific rules for adaptation from required standard information in Annex IX 9.1. REACH.
