Exposure controls / personal protection
The choice of appropriate engineering controls must be based on risk assessments performed by the employer in his modus operandi (use of the substance) in the event there is not a single and standardised exposure scenario illustrated in the REACH registration file.

If the results of the risk assessment, performed in accordance with Directive 98/24/EEC, show that the general and collective prevention measures are not sufficient to reduce the risk, and if exposure to the substance cannot be prevented using other means, adequate personal protective equipment, compliant with the relevant UNI/EN technical standards must be adopted.
a) Eye/face protection: Safety glasses according to standard EN 166; face-shield
b) Skin protection
- Hand protection: Gloves resistant to chemical products according to standard EN 374, parts 1, 2 and 3 and Community directive 89/89/EEC for the substances classified. The material of the gloves must be waterproof and stable for contact with the substance. Choose the material of the gloves on the basis of the breakthrough time, rates of permeation and degradation. The choice of suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but
also on other quality characteristics that may vary from one manufacturer to another.
- Breakthrough time of the glove material: ask the supplier of the gloves the exact breakthrough time which must be respected.
- Other, body protection Wear appropriate eye / face protection in the form of safety goggles or visor of chemical grade integrity.
c) Respiratory protection: Wear appropriate respiratory protection under conditions of frequent use or heavy use or heavy exposure. A respiratory cartridge with organic vapour and dust protection is suitable.
