Additional information

The terrestrial toxicity of zinc lactate can be understood in terms of the terrestrial toxicity of zinc(II) and lactic acid. Lactic acid is readily biodegradable (see 5.2.1) and is a ubiquitous and essential molecule of life. It will not adsorb to soil (see 5.4.1). Therefore, a lactate-related hazard for terrestrial organisms is not identified. For zinc, the ecotoxicological information from the zinc chloride dossier is included.
