No experimental data evaluating the potential for photodegradation of 1,2,3-propanetriyl trioleate (CAS No. 122-32-7) in air are available. Since the substance is an UVCB, a QSAR calculation using the AOPWIN v1.92 program has been performed on the most representative fatty acid component (C18 tri- unsaturated), resulting in estimated half-lives (DT50 values) of 1.5 and 1.7 hours (trans and cis isomers respectively, reaction with OH-radicals, 24h-day)(López Parrón, 2011). These values indicate that the substance is susceptible to undergo rapid indirect photodegradation in air. Nevertheless, this is not expected to be a relevant environmental fate process, since 1,2,3-propanetriyl trioleate is not likely to be present in the atmosphere in relevant amounts based on its estimated vapour pressure value (< 0.0001 Pa at 20 °C).
