Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Eye contact :  rinse immediately with tap water for 10 minutes - open eyelids forcibly;  consult a physician if irritation persists

Skin contact:  remove immediately contaminated clothes, wash affected skin with water and soap - do not use any solvents

Inhalation - remove the casualty to fresh air and keep him/her calm

- in the event of symptoms get medical treatment

Note to physician - treat symptomatically

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media - water spray jet, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide

Specific hazards - formation of toxic and corrosive combustion gases (sulfur oxides) possible

- heating containers will cause pressure to rise (risk of bursting or explosion)

- Material can be ignited

- high probability of ignition of dust whirled up

Protection of fire-fighters - precipitate gases/vapours/mists with water spray

Accidental release measures

Environmental protection - do not allow to enter drains or waterways

- if the substance reaches waters or the sewer system, inform the competent authority

Methods for cleaning up - collect solids (avoid dust formation) and hand over to waste removal

Handling and storage

Handling

Technical measures - processing in closed systems, superposed by inert gas (e.g. nitrogen)

- avoid electric charging of dust clouds

- connect conductive pieces of equipment, products and packaging to earth

- handling under inert conditions

- low minimum ignition energy

- avoid dust formation; high dust explosion hazard

Suitable materials - aluminium, enamel, glass, plastic

Note - extremly violent thermal decomposition possible

Storage

Storage conditions - dry and ventilated place

- protected from humidity

- cold

Validity - 12 months

Exposure controls / personal protection

Respiratory protection - in case of open handling of larger quantities or accidental release:

particle mask or respirator with independent air supply

Hand protection - protective gloves (eg made of neoprene, nitrile or butyl rubber)

Eye protection - safety glasses

Body protection - connect persons to earth by means of conductive shoes and conductive floor

Stability and reactivity

Stability - stable under the conditions mentioned in handling and storage

Conditions to avoid - temperatures above 70 °C

Hazardous decomposition

products

- sulphur oxides (SOx)

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues - observe local/national regulations regarding waste disposal

- incinerate in qualified installation with flue gas scrubbing
