Additional information
There are no microorganism toxicity data available for (3 chloropropyl)diethoxymethylsilane, therefore, good quality data for the structurally-related substance, (chloromethyl)triethoxysilane (CAS 015267-95-5), have been read across. Both substances hydrolyse to structurally-related silanol hydrolysis products. It is therefore considered valid to read-across the results for (chloromethyl)triethoxysilane (CAS 015267-95-5) to fill the data gap for the registered substance.Additional information is given in a supporting report (PFA, 2013m) attached in Section 13 of the IUCLID 5 dossier.
Both (3 chloropropyl)diethoxymethylsilane and (chloromethyl)triethoxysilane are within an analogue group of substances that exhibit no evidence of significant toxicity to microorganisms.
It is therefore considered valid to read-across the results for(chloromethyl)triethoxysilaneto fill the data gap for the registered substance.
Table 7.4.1 presents microorganism toxicity data available for substances within the analogue group (III-15) of chlorosilanes, siloxanes, silanes and alkoxysilanes etc, with chloroalkyl functional group(s) in side chain after any very rapid hydrolysis has been accounted for.

An EC50of >1000 mg/l and a NOEC of 1000 mg/l for toxicity to microorganisms were determined in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol, and in compliance with GLP OECD Guideline 209 (Activated Sludge, Respiration Inhibition Test, NOTOX, 2011). Additional information are available for (3-chloropropyl)triethoxysilane (CAS 5089-70-3) as supporting information to (3-chloropropyl)diethoxymethylsilane (CAS 13501-76-3) because they are structurally-related substances and they have similar hydrolysis half-lives. A 5 h EC10value of 2000 µl/l was determined for toxicity to microorganisms (Pseudomonas putida).
