Description of key information

The test substance causes burns to skin (labeling requirements: R34) (Leuschner, 1996).

Additional information

In a skin irritation study according OECD Guideline 404 3 male rabbits were exposed for 4 hours to 0.5 ml test substance/ patch and animal under semi-occlusive conditions. The first 60 minutes no effects were observed in all animals.

Beginning at 24hours up to 10 days erythema were observed in all animals. In addition, in all 3 rabbits moderate necrosis was observed 24 hours to 5 days and slight necrosis 6 days to 10 days after patch removal. The rabbit skin showed lacerations 8 to 10 days after patch removal, peeling and new skin at the 11th day and new skin from 12 to 14 days after patch removal.

There were no systemic intolerance reactions.
