Details on test solutions:
PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION (especially for difficult test substances)
- Method: The limit concentration (120 mg/L of the test item was weighed out) was freshly prepared with dilution water prior to the start of the exposure (0 hours) and the water renewal (24 hours). The limit concentration was mixed thoroughly by manual agitation.
Test organisms (species):
Daphnia magna
Details on test organisms:
TEST ORGANISM
- Common name: water flea
- Strain/clone: Daphnia magna STRAUS (Clone 5)
- Source: Origin: Institut für Wasser-, Boden- und Lufthygiene (WaBoLu), 14195 Berlin, Germany; Breeder: Noack Laboratorien GmbH, 31157 Sarstedt, Germany
- Age of parental stock (mean and range, SD): Less than 24 hours old daphnids from a healthy stock were used for at the start of the exposure the study. Juvenile daphnids were removed from the culture vessels at the latest 24 hours before the start of the exposure and discarded. The juveniles born within the following period of max. 24 hours preceding the exposure were used for the test. No first brood progeny was used for the test.
Test type:

Details on results:
The concentration of the test item IPGMA was analytically verified via GC-MS at the start of the exposure intervals (0 and 24 hours) and at the end of the exposure intervals (24 and 48 hours) in the limit concentration and the control. Details of the analytical method are presented in section 12. The measured concentrations of the test item limit concentration were 111 mg/L and 103 mg/L - corresponding to, 92% and 86% of the nominal value - at the start of the exposure intervals and 116 mg/L and 121 mg/L - corresponding to 96% and 100% of the nominal value - at the end of the exposure intervals. The geometric mean of the measured concentrations was 113 mg/L.
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
Based on the nominal test item concentration of the test item Isopropylidenglycerolmethacrylate (IPGMA), the 48 hour-EC50 for Daphnia magna was > 120 mg/L. The geometric mean measured concentration was 113 mg/L.

Description of key information

Based on the nominal test item concentration of the test item Isopropylidenglycerolmethacrylate (IPGMA), the 48 hour-EC50 for Daphnia magna was > 120 mg/L. The geometric mean measured concentration was 113 mg/L.
