The objective of this study is to assess the lowest observed effect concentration (LOEC), no observed effect concentration (NOEC), and 50 per cent reduction in reproduction(EC50)if possible by investigating the effect of PX-200 onDaphnidsreproduction.

 

This study was performed according to the following test methods and guidance document.

Daphnia magnaReproduction Test (Guideline 211, October 3, 2008) described in OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals. OECD Guidance Document No. 23 "Guidance Document on Aquatic Toxicity Testing of Difficult Substances and Mixtures" (September 2000).This study was conducted in compliance with the Principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

 

This study was conducted as a limit test in order to confirm the reproductive effect of the test item on the test organisms around the solubility of the test item in the dilution water. Since the test item is sparingly soluble in water and water solubility study resulted in showing extremely low and variable concentration, ranging from 0.000063 to 0.00029 mg/L, in dilution water, the definitive study was carried out using saturated test solution with non-dissolved test item under semi-static regime of three times renewal per week by considering the stability of the test item concentration in test solution. The mean measured concentration of the test item resulted in 0.00077 mg/L which was around the solubility in dilution water obtained in water solubility study. While the measured concentrations of the test item before the renewal increased from that at the preparation, it might be caused by gradually dissolving the test item insoluble in the test solution into it, however, the cause of it was not obvious as the measured concentration of the test item varied remarkably. No effects on the parent animal and on the reproduction were obtained around the solubility of the test item in the dilution water. Consequently, these results suggest that the test item has no effect on daphnid reproduction and the NOEC on the reproduction is >0.00077 mg/L

The environmental conditions were within the suitable range, therefore, it is concluded that this study complied with the applied test guideline.
