Description of key information

the substance is a difficult substance to degrade. The test material failed to reach 70% removal within the 28 day test period and therefore can not be considered as readily biodegradable.

Test procedure:


The present study was performed according to the degradation test of chemical substances in bacteria stipulated in Kanpogyo No. 5, Yakuhatsu No.615 and 49 Kikyoku No. 392.


 


(1) Test apparatues


Closed oxygen consumption measuring apparatus


(2) Test conditions:


i. Concentration of test substance: 100 ppm


ii. Concentration of standard activated sludge: 30 ppm


iii. Test temperature 25 °C +/- 1 °C


iV. Test period: 28 days


 


3. Results:


1). Degradation rate based on oxygen consumption


The degardation rate based on oxygen consumption was 0% in each test system. The degradation system based on the residual amount of test substance was obtained from the amount prepared, because the recovery of the test substance from the blank sample (test substance + water) was not enough. The degradation rates were 17.3%, 10.7% and 11.7% (average: 13.23%)


 


Therefore it was judged that tetrakis(2,6 dimethyl-phenyl)-m-phenylbisphosphate is a difficult substance to degrade.
