An hydrolysis study could not be conducted on the submission substance as the procedure specified in Method C7 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC states that testing is to be carried out at a concentrattion of half the water saturation concentration. However, no definitive water solubility value could be determined, so no testing was carried out for this endpoint.


 


The average rate of degradation determined in a ready biodegradation study on the submission substance was 13.23% which means that the substance cannot be classed as ready biodegradable. The log Pow was determined to be >6.2. These two factors would normally cause a substance to be classified as R53: May cause long-term adverse effects on the aquatic environment. However, a bioaccumulation study in the common Carp (Cyprinus carpio) produced an experimentally determined BCF factor of <0.20. which means the substance should not be classified as R53.


 


 




Reliability.


The above studies have all been ranked reliability 1 according to the Klimish et al system. This ranking was deemed appropriate because the studies were conducted to GLP and in compliance with agreed protocols, with no or minor deviations from standard test guidelines and/or minor methodological deficiencies, which do not effect the quality of the relevant results.
