Description of key information

The toxicity to aquatic algae, of DVS005u was determined to be EL50 > 100 mg/l and NOELR 100 mg/L according to a study performed in line with GLP and to the standardised guidelines OECD 201 and EU Method C.3.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L
EC50 for marine water algae:
100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for marine water algae:
100 mg/L

Additional information

The key study (Vryenhoef and Mullee, 2010) was conducted in line with GLP and standardised guidelines with a sufficient level of detail to assess the quality of the study. Desmodesmus subspicatus was exposed to the test material at the nominal concentration of 100 mg/l, prepared as a WAF. The test was performed under static freshwater conditions with an exposure time of 72 hours. The EL50 and the NOELR were determined to be > 100 and 100 mg/l, respectively, for growth rate. The study was performed to a good standard and was assigned a reliability score of 1 using the principles for assessing data quality as set out in Klimisch (1997).
