Description of key information

A number of studies on the toxicity to terrestrial arthropods were conducted with the substance or a formulation containing the substance. These studies are not summarized as an endpoint study entry but are briefly discussed here. No significant effect was found in toxicity studies with the formulation of the test substance (A6943E 20 WG) on predatory mite (test rate at 5 g/ha and 125 g/ha, corresponding to 1.0 g triasulfuron/ha and 25 g triasulfuron/ha), ground beetle (test rate at 7.5 g triasulfuron/ha and 15 g triasulfuron/ha), predatory bug (test rate at 7.5 g triasulfuron/ha and 15 g triasulfuron/ha),  or spider(test rate at 37.5 g/ha in 400L water/ha, corresponding to 7.5 g triasulfuron/ha)  (Grimm 1999a, Reber 1994a and 1994b and Petto & Bienert 1993).


In acute oral toxicity studies with the substance, the lowest 48-h LD50 for honeybees was determined to be > 100 µg/bee (Cole 1990). In acute contact toxicity studies with the substance, the lowest 48-h LD50 for honeybees was determined to be > 100 µg/bee (Cole 1990 and Thompson 1990). No significant effect was found in toxicity studies with the formulation of the test substance on parasitoid wasp (test rate at 5 g/ha and 125 g/ha, corresponding to 1.0 g triasulfuron/ha and 25 g triasulfuron/ha).(Grimm 1999b).

 There are four acute toxicity studies on honeybees available. In the acute oral toxicity studies with the substance, the 48-h LD50 was determined to be > 192,  > 172 and > 100 µg/bee in the studies performed by Kling (2012). Verge (2012) and Cole (1990, limit test), respectively.
