Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable liquids: obsolete as covered by section 'Flash point'
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water

Description of key information

Flammability:

Data waiving (study technically not feasible): The study does not need to be conducted because 2,2-Difluoroethyl acetate is a liquid.

Pyrophoricity & Flammability in contact with water:

Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary / other information available): The study does not need to be conducted because the experience in handling shows that the substance is not flammable in contact with air and water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

2,2-Difluoroethyl acetate was described as a clear and colourless liquid in the context of several physico-chemical studies scored as Klimisch 1 and performed according to standard and internationally recognized test guidelines under GLP compliance. Based on experience in handling, no flammable properties are expected if the substance is in contact with air or water. As described in IUCLID section 5.1.2, hydrolysis is a significant degradation pathway at pH 7 and 9, but this reaction is not associated with a flammable hazard (neither in contact with water, nor in contact with air moisture).
