First-aid measures
General advice :
In the case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately.
Ensure that the First Aid Personnel are aware of the product involved, and take precautions to protect themselves (e.g.
wear personal protection equipment).
Move out of dangerous area.
Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.
If inhaled : If breathed in, move person into fresh air. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration.
In case of skin contact : Cool skin rapidly with cold water after contact with hot, molten material. Do not peel solidified product off the skin.
Call a physician immediately.
In case of eye contact : In case of contact with the eyes rinse thoroughly with plenty of water or with an eye-cleaning solution. Protect unharmed eye. Call a physician immediately.
If swallowed : Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Call a physician immediately.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media:
Alcohol-resistant foam. Dry powder. Water spray jet. Carbon dioxide.
Unsuitable extinguishing media:
High volume water jet
Specific hazards during fire-fighting:
Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions:
Carbon dioxide (CO2), Carbon monoxide, Hydrogen fluoride, Hydrogen chloride gas
Special protective equipment for firefighters:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.
Further information :
Standard procedure for chemical fires. In the event of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes.
Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.
Please observe escape and rescue routes!
Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions :
Wear personal protective equipment. Unprotected persons must be kept away.
Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. The danger areas must be delimited and identified using relevant warning and safety signs.
Environmental precautions:
Avoid release to the environment. Retain and dispose of contaminated wash water.
Methods for cleaning up :
Use mechanical handling equipment. Avoid raising dust. The hot melt is to be taken up only by trained personnel (fire-brigade). Chemical protection suit and, if necessary, additional heat-protection gloves, should be worn when handling the product. Allow to solidify, use mechanical handling equipment. Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing environmental regulations. Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with the regulations. Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled
Handling and storage
Requirements for storage areas and containers:
Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well ventilated place.
Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.
Keep away from direct sunlight.
Keep under inert gas as substance is sensitive to air.
Advice on common storage : Do not store or transport together with foodstuffs.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Advice on safe handling :
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Handle with care. Avoid contact of the substance. Wear personal protective equipment.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion:
Normal measures for preventive fire protection. The product is combustible. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.
Hygiene measures :
General industrial hygiene practice. Keep away from food and drink. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.
Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.
Please thoroughly clean and care for the skin after finishing work. Follow the skin protection instructions for your workplace.
Stability and reactivity
Reactivity:
No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.
Chemical stability:
Stable under normal conditions. As most aldehydes the substance is sensitive to air and oxidizing substances (oxidation to the respective acid).
Hazardous reactions :
When handled and stored appropriately no dangerous reactions are known.
Conditions to avoid :
Keep away from incompatible materials and air. Store under inert gas.
Materials to avoid :
Oxidizing agents
Hazardous decomposition products:
When handled and stored appropriately, no dangerous decomposition products are known. In case of fire hazardous fumes may be formed, see fire-fighting instructions.
Disposal considerations
Product : If recycling is not practicable, dispose of in compliance with local regulations. Dispose of contents/ container to an approved waste disposal plant. Do not empty into drains.
Contaminated packaging : Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste. Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal. Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.
