Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test substance was non-oxidising
Executive summary:

The test is conducted to determine the oxidizing properties of the test substance in accordance with the criteria of EC method A.17.

The dried test item (2 parts) was thoroughly mixed with dried cellulose (1 part) and formed into a cone shaped pile of dimensions 3.5 cm (diameter of base) x 2.5 cm height. The cone was placed on a non-combustible, non-porous surface and was ignited with a gas burner. The vigour and duration of the combustion were observed, recorded and compared to that of a similarly constructed cone consisting of 3 parts of barium nitrate to 2 parts of cellulose.

As the sample cone did not burn, cones consisting of test item (1 part) and cellulose (1 and 2 parts) were prepared and tested.

Since the mixtures of 2:1, 1:1 or 1:2 test item/cellulose either only charred or did not burn to completion, the test item was considered to be non-oxidising.

By comparison, the reference mixture burned vigorously to completion in 27 seconds. No further testing was necessary.

The test substance was not oxidising.
