First-aid measures

4.1. Description of first aid measures

First-aid measures general : Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Place the victim in the recovery position.

First-aid measures after inhalation : Allow affected person to breathe fresh air. If experiencing respiratory symptoms: Call a

poison center or a doctor.

First-aid measures after skin contact : After contact with skin, take off immediately all contaminated clothing, and wash

immediately with plenty of water and soap. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical

advice/attention.

First-aid measures after eye contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do.

Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.

First-aid measures after ingestion : Rinse mouth. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical

advice/attention.

4.2. Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms/effects after skin contact : Slightly irritating to the skin.

Symptoms/effects after eye contact : Slightly irritant to eyes.

4.3. Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

5.1. Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media : carbon dioxide (CO2), dry chemical powder, foam.

Unsuitable extinguishing media : Do not use a heavy water stream.

5.2. Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Fire hazard : Under fire conditions, hazardous fumes will be present.

Explosion hazard : Vapours may form explosive mixture with air. Heavier than air, vapours may travel long

distances along ground, ignite and flash back to source.

Hazardous decomposition products in case of fire : Carbon oxides (CO, CO2).

5.3. Advice for firefighters

Precautionary measures fire : Exercise caution when fighting any chemical fire. Do not breathe fumes from fires or

vapours from decomposition.

Firefighting instructions : Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so. Use water spray or fog for cooling exposed

containers. Contain the extinguishing fluids by bunding. Fight fire from safe distance and

protected location. Evacuate the danger area.

Protection during firefighting : Do not enter fire area without proper protective equipment, including respiratory protection.

Self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear fire/flame resistant/retardant clothing.

Other information : Large amounts of the product should not be allowed to enter drains or water courses or be

deposited where it can affect ground or surface waters.

Accidental release measures

6.1. Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

General measures : Exclude sources of ignition and ventilate the area.

6.1.1. For non-emergency personnel

Emergency procedures : Mark out the contaminated area with signs and prevent access to unauthorized personnel.

Do not breathe vapours. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

6.1.2. For emergency responders

Protective equipment : Equip cleanup crew with proper protection. Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and

eye or face protection.

Emergency procedures : Ventilate area.

6.2. Environmental precautions

Dispose of this material and its container to hazardous or special waste collection point. Do not discharge into drains or the environment.

6.3. Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

For containment : Contain the spilled material by bunding. Soak up spills with inert solids, such as clay or

diatomaceous earth as soon as possible. Mechanically recover the product.

Methods for cleaning up : Wash away remainder with plenty of water.

Other information : Use closed containers for waste packaging and confinement. Dispose of contaminated

material at an authorized site.

6.4. Reference to other sections

See Heading 8. See Heading 13.

Handling and storage

7.1. Precautions for safe handling

Additional hazards when processed : Highly flammable liquid and vapour. Handle empty containers with care because residual

vapours are flammable. May form explosive peroxides.

Precautions for safe handling : Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Avoid all unnecessary exposure. Do not breathe

vapours. Provide good ventilation in process area to prevent formation of vapour. Use

personal protective equipment as required. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks,

open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking. Prevent the build-up of electrostatic

charge. Proper grounding procedures to avoid static electricity should be followed.

Hygiene measures : Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this

product. Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eating,

drinking or smoking and when leaving work. Handle in accordance with good industrial

hygiene and safety practice.

7.2. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Technical measures : Use special care to avoid static electric charges. Ground well. Provide local exhaust or

general room ventilation to minimize vapour concentrations.

Storage conditions : Keep in a cool, well-ventilated place away from moisture. Store in tightly closed containers.

Keep container closed when not in use. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open

flames and other ignition sources. No smoking. Avoid the build-up of electrostatic charge.

Incompatible materials : Strong oxidizing agents.

Storage temperature : < 25 °C

Heat and ignition sources : Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.

Special rules on packaging : Keep container tightly closed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

8.1. Control parameters

No additional information available

8.2. Exposure controls

Personal protective equipment:

Safety glasses. Gloves. Use protective clothing. Protective clothing.

Hand protection:

Nitrile rubber gloves

Eye protection:

Wear tight fitting safety glasses or facial screen

Skin and body protection:

In case of repeated or prolonged exposure : Fully enclosed impervious protective suit with integral or tight-fitting gloves, boots, self-contained or

supplied air respirator must be worn

Respiratory protection:

Provide good ventilation in process area to prevent formation of vapour. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.

Gas mask with filter type A2B2

Personal protective equipment symbol(s):

Other information:

Emergency safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure.

Stability and reactivity

10.1. Reactivity

Highly flammable liquid and vapour.

10.2. Chemical stability

Stable under normal conditions of use.

10.3. Possibility of hazardous reactions

The substance can form explosive peroxides. Highly flammable liquid and vapour. The vapours are denser than air and may travel along the

ground. Distance ignition possible.

10.4. Conditions to avoid

Avoid ignition sources. Keep away from heat and direct sunlight.

10.5. Incompatible materials

Strong oxidizing agents.

10.6. Hazardous decomposition products

Under normal conditions of storage and use, hazardous decomposition products should not be produced.

Disposal considerations

13.1. Waste treatment methods

Regional legislation (waste) : Disposal must be done according to official regulations.

Waste treatment methods : Dispose of this material and its container at hazardous or special waste collection point. Do

not empty into drains.

Sewage disposal recommendations : Do not flush down sewers.

Product/Packaging disposal recommendations : Completely empty the packaging prior to decontamination. Beware of residues or vapours

which remain in the drums.
