First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

First-aid measures general : Remove person to uncontaminated area. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing.

First-aid measures after inhalation : Allow affected person to breathe fresh air. If experiencing respiratory symptoms: Call a poison center or a doctor.

First-aid measures after skin contact : After contact with skin, take off immediately all contaminated clothing, and wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. If skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical advice/attention.

First-aid measures after eye contact : Rinse immediately and thoroughly, pulling the eyelids well away from the eye (15 minutes minimum). Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Consult an eye specialist.

First-aid measures after ingestion : Rinse mouth. Get medical advice/attention. Do NOT induce vomiting.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms/effects after skin contact : May cause an allergic skin reaction.

Symptoms/effects after eye contact : Causes serious eye damage.

Symptoms/effects after ingestion : Swallowing of this material presents health hazard.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media : Water spray. carbon dioxide (CO2), dry chemical powder, foam.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Fire hazard : Under fire conditions, hazardous fumes will be present.

Explosion hazard : Dust may form explosive mixture in air.

Hazardous decomposition products in case of fire : Carbon oxides (CO, CO2). Nitrogen oxides

Advice for firefighters

Precautionary measures fire : Exercise caution when fighting any chemical fire. Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so. Evacuate the danger area.

Firefighting instructions : Do not breathe fumes from fires or vapours from decomposition. Use water spray or fog for cooling exposed containers. Fight fire from safe distance and protected location.

Protection during firefighting : Do not enter fire area without proper protective equipment, including respiratory protection.

Self-contained breathing apparatus.

Other information : Large amounts of the product should not be allowed to enter drains or water courses or be deposited where it can affect ground or surface waters.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

General measures : Avoid creating or spreading dust. Ventilate spillage area.

For non-emergency personnel

Emergency procedures : If a major spill occurs, all personnel should be immediately evacuated and the area ventilated. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not breathe dust.

For emergency responders

Protective equipment : Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye or face protection. Where excessive dust may result, wear approved mask.

Environmental precautions

Do not discharge into drains or the environment. Dispose of at a licensed waste collection centre

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

For containment : Contain the spilled material by bunding. Mechanically recover the product.

Methods for cleaning up : Sweep up or vacuum up the product. Wash away remainder with plenty of water.

Other information : Use closed containers for waste packaging and confinement. Dispose of materials or solid residues at an authorized site.
