Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Classification related key information

Biodegradation in water: Not readily biodegradable

Log Kow: 0.7 (OECD 117)

Acute toxicity:

- to Fish: LC50 (96h) = 161 mg/L (mean meas.) for Cyprinodon variegatus (EPA OPP 72-1)

- to aquatic invertebrates: EC50 (48h) = 85 mg/L (mean meas.) for Daphnia magna (EPA OPP 72-2)

- to algae: ECr50 (72h) > 100 mg/L (nominal) for Selenastrum capricornutum (OECD 201)

Chronic toxicity:

- to Fish: NOEC (31 d) was ≥ 9.02 mg/L (mean meas.) for Oncorhynchus mykiss (OECD 210)

- to aquatic invertebrates: NOEC (21d) = 1.8 mg/L (mean meas.) for Daphnia magna (EPA OPP 72-4)

- to Algae: NOEC (72h) <100 mg/L (nominal) for Selenastrum capricornutum (OECD 201)

Classification justification according to CLP

According to the data listed above Imidacloprid is not rapidly biodegradable and has a low potential to bioaccumulate (log Kow: 0.7). All available acute and chronic effect concentrations are > 1 mg/L. Based on the available data substance would not need to be classified and labelled as environmentally hazardous. However, Imidacloprid is listed on Annex VI to CLP_ATP13 (in force from 1 May 2020). The harmonised classification and labelling is Aquatic Acute 1 and Aquatic Chronic 1 according to Annex VI to CLP.
