D10: 10 Vol.-% of the particles have a smaller diameter

D50: 50 Vol.-% of the particles have a smaller diameter

D90: 90 Vol.-% of the particles have a smaller diameter

Two series of 3 measurements each were performed with the test item:

1st test series: D50 = 3.17 µm +/- 0.07 µm

2nd test series: D50 = 2.85 µm +/- 0.12 µm

The average of the median particle size D50 was: D50 = 3.01 µm +/- 0.16 µm

1st test series: D10 = 0.54 µm +/- 0.01 µm

2nd test series: D10 = 0.52 µm +/- 0.01 µm

The average of the median particle size D10 was: D10 = 0.53 µm +/- 0.01 µm

1st test series: D90 = 8.43 µm +/- 0.13 µm

2nd test series: D90 = 7.74 µm +/- 0.18 µm

The average of the median particle size D90 was: D90 = 8.09 µm +/- 0.34 µm

Conclusions:
The median particle size D50 of the test item was determined to D50 = 3.01 µm.
Executive summary:

The particle size distribution of the test item was determined by laser diffraction (light scattering) measurements according to ISO 13320. The test item consisted of reddish-brown to brownish-grey powder.

The average values of the particle sizes were determined to:

D50 = 3.01 µm +/- 0.16 µm

D10 = 0.53 µm +/- 0.01 µm

D90 = 8.09 µm +/- 0.34 µm
