Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Inhalation: If inhaled decomposed gas, remove to fresh air and promptly call a physician.

Ingestion: Rinse mouth. Get medical attention immediately.

Skin contact: Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Wash skin with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.

Eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Get medical attention immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:

Suitable extinguishing media: Foam, dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide (CO2).

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

Special hazard: By heating and fire, harmful vapors/gases may be formed.

Hazardous combustion products: Hydrogen fluoride (corrosive).

Advice for firefighters:

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:

Firefighters must use standard protective equipment including flame retardant coat, helmet, gloves. rubber boots, and self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Keep unnecessary personnel away. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. Ventilate closed spaces before entering them. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Environmental precautions:

Prevent further leakage or spillage of safe to do so. Avoid release to the environment.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Eliminate all ignition sources (no smoking, flares, sparks or flames in immediate area). Keep combustibles (wood, paper, oil etc) away from spilled material.

Large spills:

Stop the flow of material if this is without risk. Dike the spilled material where this is possible. Cover with plastic sheet to prevent spreading. Use a non-combustible material like vermiculite, sand or earth to soak up the product and place into a container for later disposal. Prevent entry into waterways, sewer, basements or confined areas.

Small spills: Wipe up with absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece). Clean surface thoroughly to remove residual contamination. Never return spills in original containers for re-use.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

All equipment used when handling the product must be grounded. Use non-sparking tools and explosion-proof equipment. Provide adequate ventilation. Use adequate ventilation when this product is heated at approximately 150°C and above in the presence of air.

Conditions for safe storage:

Use care in handling/storage. Do not handle, store or open near an open flame, sources of heat or sources of ignition. Protect material from direct sunlight. When using do not smoke. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Do not breathe mist or vapor. Avoid release to the environment. Do not empty into drains.

Skin protection: Wear suitable protective clothing. Wear protective gloves.

Respiratory protection: Chemical respirator with organic vapour cartridge.

Thermal hazards: No data available.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity:

Slowly reacts with water, acids or bases.

Chemical stability: Stable at normal conditions.

Possibility of hazardous reactions: Hazardous polymerization does not occur.

Conditions to avoid:

None specified.

Incompatible materials:

Strong oxidizing agents. Water, acids or alkalis.

Hazardous decomposition products:

This product slowly reacts with water, acids or bases to evolve following compounds: Methanol

Thermal breakdown of this product during fire or very high heat condition may evolve the following hazardous decomposition products: Carbon oxides and traces of incompletely burned carbon compounds. Silicon dioxide. Fluorine compounds.

Disposal considerations

Incinerate. Incinerator should be appropriately equipped for Fluoro gases, silica and other fine powder which the product will generate in incineration. Workers should wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as respirator. Contract with a disposal operator licensed by the Law on Disposal and Cleaning. Do not allow this material to drain into sewers/water supplies. Dispose of contents/containers in accordance with local/regional/national/international regulations.
