The onset point of the exotherm was observed to be a kinetic event dependent on the heating rate and attributed to decomposition rather than a boiling phase transition. The material was visually observed to have been converted to a black tar. This is typical for substances that undergo decomposition during DSC analysis.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The decomposition range of DiBrORMA was determined to be between 359 °C and 372 °C (OECD 103).
Executive summary:

The decomposition temperature was determined by the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). During the heating processes the material was visually observed to have been converted to a black tar. Due the difference in onset point when heating at 5 °C/minute and 10 °C/minute, the onset point was also determined to be kinetic dependent on the heating rate. The study was conducted in accordance with OECD 103 method and GLP compliant. Therefore, the study is considered reliable without restrictions.
