The pre-test for solubility of the test item in demineralised water, algal test medium and M4 medium indicated in a GLP study that the solubility is substantially lower than 1 µg/L in each of the tested matrices.
In non GLP pre-tests the toxicity against daphnia and algae were tested, using a saturated solution. For this, the nominal loading of 100 mg/L was mixed with the corresponding amount of test medium (Daphnia = M4 medium, Algae = algal medium) and stirred for 24 hours. After a settling period of 1 hour, the lower phase of the resulting solutions was used as highest concentrated test solution. No undissolved components were visible. Therefore, the solutions were not membrane filtered.
Additionally, these saturated solutions were diluted 10-fold (10 mg/l) and 100-fold (1 mg/l) with test medium and also tested. The tested concentrations showed no toxicity against daphnia and algae in any of the tested concentrations.
